Dilbert goes Web 2.0

One of my favorite cartoon that accompany me whenever I read my morning newspaper, with an addictive cup of coffee in the other hand: Dilbert. I do believe many of you also love the quirky, and sometimes too many sarcastic lines that Dilbert bring to our modest cubicle life. Still in the craze-ness of Web 2.0 Expo that I was previously talking about, Scott Adams and the Dilbert's distributor, United Media; have chose to launch the old-web-style of Dilbert into the glamarous Web 2.0.
The main difference in the new Dilbert web site is readers will get a new interactive features, that allow them to write their own "punch-line" in the ending of available Dilbert comic strips. In the next future upgraded version, United Media has planned to allow readers to write the whole "punch-lines" in one whole comic strip. While slated to be released in May this year, a new feature will allow Dilbert fans & readers to write the entire dialogue for a single Dilbert comic panel.
Oooh..., I can feel the excitement to "
mash-ups" those Dilbert's characters even right now. ;-D Read on the Daniel Terdiman article at Webware here, where Scott Adams has explained why he & United Media are opening up the Dilbert intellectual property like this: "We're accepting the realities of IP on the Internet, and trying to get ahead of the curve. People already alter Dilbert strips and distribute them. If we make it easy and legal to do so, and drive more traffic to Dilbert.com in the process, everyone wins. Plus it's a lot of fun to see what people come up with in the mashups."
Just as what you'll expect from the witty mind of Dilbert creator, very savvy indeed. I do hope they'll bring a mobile version of Dilbert Web 2.0 web features, that we can enjoy with our mobile phones.
