T-Omnia is the fastest (right now) with 806MHz CPU

The race for bringing in the fastest CPU to smartphones is just getting start to warm up, where previously the title was held by Asus P565 with its 800MHz CPU; but Samsung is catching up and has taken the title for now with T-Omnia.

Ubergizmo reports the leaked T-Omnia specs as follow:
  • Display: 480x800 pixels
  • CPU: 806Mhz
  • S-DMB (Digital TV)
  • UMTS/HSDPA 7.2Mbps (theoretical)
  • 4GB or 16GB
  • NO WIFI?!?!!

It's only 6MHz difference, but hey it's just like what the famous line from Dom in The Fast & the Furious movie (played by Vin Diesel): "Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning."

So T-Omnia is the winner, for now. But don't get too excited yet, because according to Ubergizmo; that fastest smartphone (right now) is only available in South Korea at November 27th. Anyone want to race to the "Land of the Morning Calm" and grab one? ;-D

Samsung C6620 leaked

Samsung has been secretly working on a new mid-range Windows Mobile -based smartphone, codenamed C6620. But unfortunately the surprise was blown out by the reckless action from Italian carrier; TIM who posted the new handset line-up in its website. Perhaps it was intentional? ;-p

GSMArena is reporting that this C6620 smartphone will hosts these mediocre specs: HSDPA connection, QVGA display, WinMob 6.1, and 2MP camera. And since this is a mid-range phone, you'll not find GPS & WiFi features in it. Availability info is, it will retail for 199 euro with 1GB microSD memory card on a pre-paid basis.

This is probably just me, but whenever I see the C6620; it strikes a close resemblance to the 'unsuccessful' Palm's Treo 500. Is it?

Samsung's M8800 Pixon

Mobile phone's camera war has been taken into the next step; 8MP resolution. There are two early contenders now, which have already show their faces: Samsung M8800 Pixon & LG KC780. Let's take a look at the Samsung M8800 Pixon first, shall we?

What would you do, if you're a mobile handset manufacturer, and you need to stay in the tight competition? The answer is easy; keep on throwing bigger and meaner features into the next handsets. So that's what Samsung is doing with its M8800 Pixon handset; it got big 3.2 inch display with a resolution of 240x400 pixels & a meany 8MP camera on the back.

What so meany about this handset's camera? Aside from the manufacturer claims it's “even better than an actual camera”, the scariest part is the fact the M8800 Pixon capable to capture videos in DVD resolution (720x480) or in QVGA with option for 120 frames per second. The Pixon will even have DivX playback and SRS (surround sound system) Virtual 5.1 Ch.

This slim handset, touting at 13.8mm thickness, will also have the latest features available in most smartphones nowadays: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, built-in accelerometer, FM Radio with RDS and microSD slot. Unfortunately it only has tri-band GSM band, so no 3G connection for users in U.S. soil.

The Samsung M8800 Pixon will start shipping in mid-October for about 550 euro price tag (US$800), starting with France and soon continuing to most other European and Asian countries. Sources are from
GSMArena & PhoneArena, hit the respective links for more pictures.

Samsung INNOV8 officially introduced

You might be thinking; "Another new mobile phone model comes out from Samsung..." Well, can't blame you for that since me too was thinking like that when I read the news about Samsung latest mobile phone: Innov8.

It's actually the very same Samsung's mobile phone that I previously told you about
here at PalmAddict, before it was called as Samsung i8510 Primera. The new Innov8 is exactly the same as the Primera in every way; the specs, looks and everything are no different. The only thing changed is its name, and although it's hard to be pronounced, it's a short for INNOVATE.

Now, I don't know about you guys. But everytime I see this Samsung's Innov8, especially this left picture, it reminds me of Palm's TX. For me, there's a striking resemblance between Innov8 with the TX...
I ain't gonna bore you with the same specs that I've mentioned before, so if you're interested to know what this beast has inside its belly, please see my previous
post.

What so "beasty" about this mobile phone anyway? It's the 8MP camera embedded inside its sliding body that carries the nickname, and that's not all. Samsung has equipped the 8MP camera with additional features like:
  • Auto-focus
  • Face recognition
  • Smile & blink recognition
  • Auto panorama mode
  • Geotagging
  • Dual-powered LED
  • 30fps VGA video quality
  • 120fps QVGA video quality

I remember one of our PalmAddict readers named Soda, who has emailed Sammy and talk about how great it is if there's a face recognition technology inside mobile phones. The Innov8's face recognition tech sounds to be the right answer for that, although we must wait until the handset is released to the market and the new feature is tested; before we know if the face recognition is worth it.

It won't be long for us to wait, because according to GSMArena the Innov8 will be available in Europe next month and its rumored price is 780 Euro. Head on to GSMArena's page to see more pictures of the new Innov8, meanwhile you can enjoy the picture on the right but don't stare too long on the model girl. ;-p

AT&T paints cheerful colors on BlackJack II

Samsung's BlackJack II is definetely made for serious business users, with it all black colored from front to the back, the BlackJack line-ups have been well known in corporate circles. But BGR picked up a rumor about new colors are available for this same BlackJack II, coming soon in AT&T's stores. The new colored handsets will have the same white colored front, while the differences are to be seen at the color on the back and the graphical patterns. IMO, they're like meant for boys and girls teen mobile phone. ;-p

Samsung Instinct vs. iPhone 2G video hands-on

Dieter Bohn from The iPhone Blog has got his hands-on both the Samsung Instinct and iPhone 2G (the first gen), and he recorded the head-to-head comparison in video. So check it out on the left video there, and here are some of his comment on the Samsung Instinct:

"Compared to the original iPhone 2G, the Instinct actually holds up quite well. It’s not as elegant as the iPhone, the touchscreen isn’t as responsive (but it does give you a little haptics-vibrate on every tap), they keyboard isn’t as good (but does offer a landscape version throughout), the apps are a mix of quality iPhone knocks off and java craplets, the browser is decent but nowhere near the quality of the iPhone’s, ...."
