Google and Apple flirt each other with harmonious sync

Seems like both of Google and Apple have seen the good prospects if they join forces together, well not intentionally with huge press announcement like that but more like a silent and modest sync between their service/product: Google Contacts and Mac OS X Address Book.

It all started with Apple’s newest update for the Mac OS X v10.5.3, and then followed by Google with a blog post at Google’s support web page: “To try it, go to the Address Book menu, choose Preferences, and then check Synchronize with Google. It’ll ask for your Google account and password, then automatically update your contacts every time you sync your iPhone. Before you try syncing, it’s a good idea to back up both your Address Book contacts and Gmail contacts. For instructions on how to do that, plus other important information, see the FAQ.”

And I’m seriously suggesting you iPhone users, to take a look first at the FAQ page thoroughly. Because in there you’ll find important informations such as backing up your contacts, why did syncing create duplicate contacts, why didn’t all of your contacts sync to Gmail, why did you lost your Gmail Talk authorization, etc.

Very-very important to know what you’re dealing with, before everything went bad and you’re seeking for help later; right? Sources are from iPhone Atlas & Just Another iPhone Blog.
