Sorting out the iPhone 2.0 rumor news stack

Cold sweats are coming down on your neck, as you're desperately find a way to ditch those first gen of iPhone that you bought madly back then when it was first released.

Because it's getting near, the (rumored) announcement of iPhone 2.0 at WWDC '08 on June 9th by Steve Jobs. And as we're starting off at June 1st, how is that iPhone stack on your desk? Sitting pretty aren't they? ;-D

Alright Apple fanboys & girls, it's kinda meant to be: today is Sunday and the first day of the long awaited month of June. So that means I'll be bringing another round-up of iPhone 2.0 rumor news to you, here they are:

Orange rolls out iPhone 2.0 upgrade program

Like it's not enough if it is only me who teases you guys with crazy iPhone 2.0 news, but Tom Krazit (
One More Thing) also joins in the party when he found that Ars Technica has spotted a report from French Web site PC Inpact that Orange has been calling iPhone owners in France and offering them an upgrade path to the new model. However, this offer might be an only-in-France type of deal, assuming that it's even true.

Broadcom supplies iPhone 2.0 GPS chips

I dunno why, but seems like I keep talking about GPS feature in iPhone 2.0 like I previously posted here at PA. Om Malik (GigaOM) has sources told him that the contract has been nailed down by Broadcom, a relatively new entrant into the GPS market. The Irvine, Calif.-based chip company had acquired Global Locate in July 2007 for $143 million in cash and $80 million in incentives. In the past such a deal would have gone to someone like SIRF, which is in a bit of pain these days. Picture is courtesy from MacLife.

Apple bought handwriting code for iPhone 2.0

This 3rd party handwriting recognition application called "HWPen", was previously made by Hanwang.com.cn for jailbroken iPhones; allowing Chinese character input on the iPhone.
iPhone Atlas reported The developer is currently unwilling to discuss his work, citing a non-disclosure agreement with Apple, and has sent requests for removal to forums publishing screenshots of his previously freely available third-party application. ...but it now appears that Apple may have acquired this function rather than developed it in-house.

iPhone 2.0 commercial ad filmed at 5th Avenue Apple flagship store

Yup, looks like the tip from Gizmodo before is true. Because Apple's most precious flagship store at New York there is normally open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and has only closed on two occasions, for about three hours- the release of Mac OS X Leopard and the iPhone last June. TheiLife regular, Sidney San Martin is en-route to check out the scene, and reported black cases appeared marked “Anonymous 5+4" and “Anonymous 4+3".

While Roberto Baldwin (
MacLife) have another theory: David Fincher is reportedly shooting an iPhone commercial in Los Angeles. According to our sources, that shoot involves an all black iPhone. Fincher directed the film Se7en.Could there be a special edition black Se7en iPhone on the horizon? Nah, that would be just too creepy.

Head on to
TheiLife, to indulge yourself on this rumored new iPhone commercial photo shoots happening on the site of 5th Ave. And while you're at it, you can also run wild on your imagination about it as well. ;-D

Smaller and cheaper iPhone 2.0: the iShuffle

Oookay, I don't have anymore excuses for this one ;-p So I'm just going to said exactly like what the
artist who made: "Life is random, expand your social life." ~LOL~ But I guess it would be really exciting if you're in a rush to call someone important, and when you use this new iPhone Shuffle you'll be connected with some strangers instead to the one you want to talk to... ;-D
