Instapaper for iPhone/iPod Touch
Not everyone of us have the leisure of time to read all the news from around the world, the rumors we wanted to hear, those RSS feeds we've picked up, or reading them all directly in the glorious display of iPhone's Safari web browser. So, enter "Instapaper" (v1.2). As quoted from its web site: Now you can read saved web pages on the go, even offline, with Instapaper.
Simply install the Instapaper app and download your unread articles when you have WiFi, EDGE, or 3G coverage, then you can read them anytime: on the train, on the bus, on line at the bank, or in space (you never know).
Instapaper saves two versions of each page whenever possible: the Web view (pictured on the middle) and the Text view (the most right placed picture above). The Web view is the graphical page with nearly all of its elements intact. Only a few changes are made in the Web view such as Flash contents, Javascript & blog comments are removed. While the images are compressed, saving up to 80% of the space. The Text view uses ideal fonts and text formatting for maximum readability in either orientation on the iPhone and iPod touch. It also removes the need to zoom or horizontally pan. No more accidentally side-scrolling from a long text column.
Instapaper comes in two kind of version: Pro and free. For $9.99 price, the Pro version offers more features such as black-background text view, remembers your last position, email any link, adjustable text size, & multiple text-view fonts. But the most recognizable feature added in the Pro version, is the Tilt scrolling feature. With this feature, you'll only need to tilt your iPhone to scroll up and down. Pretty neat.
