Foleo is one of 'Vaporware Products of All Time'!
An interesting article comes from Emru Townsend (PC World), it’s called ‘The Top 15 Vaporware Products of All Time’. And what do you know, the failed-to-launch Palm’s Foleo is at number #5 in the list. Foleo is accompanied by other great inventions and ideas, that all of them never got the change to see stores’ shelves or tasted by geeky end-customers’ hungry mouths.
While Emru has mentioned that we probably should be glad because those big ideas never appeared, it’s a different case for Foleo. Now, whenever someone talks about Foleo; praises are given to its founder (and Palm’s too): Jeff Hawkins. The once laughed and doubted of the ideas that Foleo holds in it, were actually have revolutionized the mobile product’s technologies we held in our hands now. For examples are HP’s Mini-Note & Asus Eee PC, which the last one is currently own and used by our own Sammy and iPhone Editor; Paul Biba (darn, they’re so lucky! I’m still sulking in my dream to have one… ;-()
This means a great deal for all of us, Palm Addict-ers, that Palm was on the right track if just Foleo wasn’t cancelled so Palm can concentrate on building a new Palm OS (Nova). What can I say, if you’ve read Jeff Hawkins interview with P.J. Art here at PA, I’m going to say exactly what Jeff has said: “I’m not worried about the company, and Palm’s fans shouldn’t worry about it either.” Have faith on Palm, y’all!
So Palm, please don’t let us all down and proof it to them that Palm is not a vaporware production company. And pretty-please-with-cherry-on-top; hasten the release of the new Treo 800, Palm Nova OS & Foleo II…

Hey, Andy -- I just want to make one small clarification. In the dek to the vaporware article I said that in a few cases, you'd be glad that some of these items never appeared. I don't count the Foleo as one of those cases. Although I probably wouldn't have bought one -- between my camera, Treo 680, iPod touch, PSP and MacBook I have enough portable tech, thank you -- I'd have liked to have seen the Foleo mix things up a bit.
Hi Emru,
Thank you for dropping by, it's an honor to have your comment here.
Your comment has been taken into note. And I also wish to tell you that when I wrote:

; I was actually intend to show to everybody that you praise Jeff Hawkins when everybody else is mocking the Foleo.
I hope that clarifies all ;-)
