Let’s start, shall we?
So it’s another Sunday, a time for reconciliation on news about the most lustful mobile phone right now: iPhone 3G. I guess it can’t be helped, huh? The July 11th, the official day of iPhone 3G release date is finally drawing near. And yet, your first gen iPhones are still sitting pretty, stacked neatly on your desk.
Told ya to hold on to your buying impulse, and cover your eyes with black-lens eyeglasses from the alluring shine of iPhone. But I guess it’s partly my fault too, cause I’ve been feeding your passion for it with weekly news on the upcoming iPhone 3G. ~LOL~

Apple has issued an official Knowledge Base (KB) article that explains the steps necessary to properly move all your data over from your original iPhone to the new iPhone 3G. The summary reads:
"This article explains how to replace an original iPhone with an iPhone 3G using the same carrier. If you follow these steps to backup your original iPhone first, and then restore the backup to your iPhone 3G, your saved SMS messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will be present on your iPhone 3G."

I guess you’re more interested to know more about how to migrate to iPhone 3G for the existing AT&T customers, so here are some of the tips:
- You're immediately eligible to upgrade to iPhone 3G at the $199 upgrade price for the 8GB model, plus an $18 upgrade fee. Alternatively, you can upgrade to the 16GB model for $299 plus the $18 upgrade fee.
- Before going to an AT&T or Apple Retail store to upgrade, you'll want to sync your current iPhone's contacts, calendar, photos, emails, music and other media files to iTunes as you normally would. Although your new iPhone 3G will be activated in the store, you'll need to bring it back home and then sync it to iTunes in order to populate it with your contacts and data from your old iPhone.
- You'll also want to check any voicemails you have on your original iPhone before upgrading to iPhone 3G, as your voicemails will not be carried over and will be deleted.
You'll then have to decide what accessories you want to purchase with your new iPhone 3G, what calling plan you'd like to sign up for, and whether you'd like to give your old iPhone to a family member of friend.
Uh, oh… I can see your eyes are bulging when you read that last line there about ‘handing down your old iPhone to friends or family members’. ;-D But I’m afraid you’ll have to read my other post to see what things you need to know before doing it.
