ComiXology for iPhone/iPod Touch

Old or young, male or female, some of us just simply love to read comics and sometime collect them in our private stash box. If you love western comics, then you must have at least encountered ComiXology site while you're surfing on-line. And the good news is; ComiXology has released ComiXology app for the iPhone and iPod Touch (software v2.0 or above is required), available for purchase and download from the App Store for $3.99.

According to Macenstein who tried the app, ComiXology app has been released yesterday on Friday for an introductory price of $3.99, and will rise to its normal $4.99 price a week later. To celebrate the launch, ComiXology will launch with these exclusive extras:

  • Complete Atomic Robo FCBD from Red 5 Comics
  • Previews of IDW’s 30 Days of Death #1, Ghost Whisperer: The Muse #1, Epilogue #3, Lifebringer #49, Transformers: Maximum Dinobots #1
  • Preview of IDW’s Steve Niles American Freaks
  • Preview of AdHouse Book’s Skyscrapers of the Midwest

Some cool features slated for the upcoming 1.1 update include:

  • rotating previews
  • shipping confirmation icon in list view (currently in detail view)
  • search
  • connection to your local retailer (retailer participation required)
  • pull subscriptions (so you do not need to pull each comic)

Watch the video demo, which I've embedded below this post. Now if just there's a similar app for reading manga like Vagabond or Beck, then it'll be a pleasure to read those mangas on the iPhone's big screen on the go. Oh wait, I don't have an iPhone... Gotta stay awake, and stop day dreaming. ;-p
