Two pull-apart phone concepts at Japan's CEATEC 2008

Japan is keep on proving to the world, that creative ideas are abundant there and being supported by big name companies like NTT DoCoMo & Fujitsu. There are two protoypes shown at the CEATEC 2008 event:
  • On the left of above picture is protoype from Fujitsu concept, which lets you separate the phone's screen and touchscreen keypad. Both parts are glued together using magnet, and according to Gizmodo who handled the device directly at the event; where you stick the screen on the keypad determines what the touchscreen shows. The screen module contains software functions, including video recording and games, while the keyboard is responsible for communication tasks, such as 3G and radio.
  • The other one came from NTT DoCoMo, and like Fujitsu's concept, this one also using magnet to be configured in a standard flip-phone-like arrangement, or snapped together for gaming landscape formats. You can watch the video hands-on below, courtesy from Engadget.
